Fundraising
The community service activities we are involved in require funding. So we do three major fundraising events each year.
Handle parking at the Coweta County Fairgrounds
The first fundraiser we’ll mention is directing traffic into the fairgrounds. We volunteer to do this work for the July 4 fireworks display. But for the Coweta County Fair and the Cattlemen’s Association Rodeo, we are paid by their sponsors to handle the parking for them.
Sponsor an annual golf tournament at the Newnan Country Club
We sponsor an annual golf tournament in October each year. Held at the Newnan Country Club, net income from this event goes primarily to fund scholarships.
Sell Georgia-grown pecans
Each fall a team from our club makes multiple trips straight to the Ellis Brothers pecan orchard in Vienna, Georgia to pick up truck loads of fresh, current year pecans. The family-run orchard has been growing pecans since 1944 and their product is the best. The pecans can be purchased from individual White Oak Golden K members, or they can be purchased at sales sites in the vicinity of Lowe’s, in downtown Newnan, or at Fischer Crossings in Sharpsburg.
